Lazy Blogger

Abject apologies I just climbed out from under my rock and realised I have not updated this since long before Shakespeare wast a boy... You would not believe that my hands were chopped off and I was waiting for bionic ones. I permit myself in sorrow and beg thy forgiveness..

I am lost in a sea of pseudo-olde-english with waiting for a fine young gentleman to propose, learning to fart the theme to neighbours, just generally being a nuisance to the bodyguards of the blogger I am stalking, my day is filled with fluorescent light from midday to sun down and beyond. I am wearing my budgie smugglers. deal with it.

I go, my lords and ladies; just think of me as I battle mine enemies. You have my word! What do you mean you don't believe me?.

Just playin'. Try it.

Total Solar Eclipse

it was March 18, 1988. a regular day for a student like me who's more excited with the upcoming summer vacation than the total solar eclipse that everybody has been talking about. my science teacher told us to bring our handmade sun disk eyeglasses. i forgot mine, so the only way i could look at it is through a provided by someone i can't remember who batyang bakal na may lamang malinis na tubig (oo, batsyang ginagamit sa paglalaba ng ating mga mader dears o nila ate yaya) . i didn't get it right away, so all i did was stare blankly and pretend that i could actually see the spectacular view from my batya with water. but not to worry, i eventually had my own glimpse with TSE.

it was all in the news next day that the total solar eclipse took place at General Santos City for 3 min 22sec by 9:03 a.m. that awed the crowd by its magnificent view. darkness creeps along the city like a late twilight. street lights were switched on and church bells rang with a willingness to contend.

i discovered that it takes 350 years in a particular location before the total solar eclipse takes place again. so it was great to know that i was there to witness in my batya that magnificent view.

since TSE's last visibility in 1999 in Europe that lasted for 2min 22sec, this coming friday, with the sun's magnitude of 1.039, TSE will show its enthusiasts once again in northern Canada (Nunavut), northern part of Russia, western Mongolia, and China.

unless you're still interested, a partial eclipse (moon's penumbra) will be seen in eastern North America and most of Europe and Asia for few minutes not greater than 7min (vs greatest eclipse at northern Russia for 2 min 27sec at 10:21UTC). Remember August 1, 2008, general eclipse begins at 08:04UTC.

note:
solar eclipse is the moon passing between the sun and earth (that happens merely every new moon) that occurs from 2 to 5 times a year on Earth, with between zero and two of them being total eclipses. Total solar eclipses are nevertheless rare at any location because during each eclipse totality exists only along a narrow corridor in the relatively tiny area of the moon's umbra.

when the heat is on

my hammy's having a hard time with humidity

he moves around to find a cool spot

as if sleeping, eyes wide open

no success

so i gave him a bath

he rests on my finger whenever he gets tired

then again, swimmin' around in my sink

then crawls back to my hand when he's done

lickin'

and lickin' some more

and now the treat!

chocolate ice cream! yum! yum! yum!

yaaawwnnn...then off to sleep

sigh...well, i did a good job! :-)

you name it

This can be fun.

Rinka.

o-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-o

it is pretty amazing how names are invented. in genesis, their names were derived from something that has something to do with their lives or events in their lives. it is how God, named adam and eve in the first place, right?

so i tried to look up for rinka and i was linked to think baby names. most of the time it is referred to somewhat ’sounds like’ or how it relatively spelled to the famous or original name.

i searched for rinka for a girl’s name:

e.g.

No results found for the name “rinka“. You may want to try the similar-sounding names Ronika and Ronica. Other similar names are Tinka, Anka, Hanka, Aranka, Bianka, Branka, Franka, Henka, Rina, Irenka, Janka, Nika, Rivka, Rieka, Rika, Rifka, Ricka, Varinka and Verinka.

for ronika or ronica:

The girl’s name Ronni \r(on)-ni\ is pronounced RAH-nee. It is of Old English origin, and its meaning is “strong counsel”. Feminine variant of Ron and Ronald; short form of Veronica (Latin) “image”. Roni (ROH-nee) is also an Israeli name meaning “song”.

for rika/rica:

The girl’s name Rica \r(i)-ca\. Variant of Erica (Scandanivian) “complete ruler” or Frederica (Old German) “peaceful ruler”. Also possibly (Spanish) “rich”.

for rina/rinah/rena

The girl’s name Rinah \r(i)-nah\ is pronounced REE-nah. It is of Israeli origin, and its meaning is “joyful”.

The girl’s name Rena \r(e)-na\ is pronounced REE-nah. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is “melody”. Also short form of Irene (Greek) “peace” and Irena.

so i guess i’m a complete peaceful ruler with a strong counsel that will eventually make me joyful because of the riches that i made. nice. :-)

Manny Pacquiao

In 8,362 crowd, mostly Filipinos and not to mention Boston Celtics’ presence , favorably cheered for Pacman as he enters the ring in Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, 28th of June 2008, Saturday. From 130 lbs to 135 lbs to fight the defending Lightweight champion, David Diaz, Mexican-American from Chicago.

Having said that the Mexican-American had defeated the Olympian champion Marquez, Diaz was surprised by Pacman’s speed and strength. Not prepared for the jabs that he received that made him fall for the 9th round that waved off the fight by 2:24 without Referee Vic Drakulich’s countdown.

Winning the title for Lightweight made Pacman the first Filipino and first Asian who held a championship belt world titles in different weight divisions. He walks up starting from 106 lbs in Flyweight; 112 lbs in Junior Featherweight; 122 lbs in Featherweight; 126 lbs where he defeated Marco Antonio Barera; 130 lbs to fight Manuel Marquez; and yesterday’s famous knockout with Diaz by 135 lbs.

Parties for Manny from US to his hometown, our country, Philippines awaits him. So much will be celebrated even after the tremendous effect of typhoon Frank in which he promised to help when he gets home.

Mabuhay ka Manny!
